Most people think Max and Keeley’s story began in 2021 in Denver, Colorado. But what many don’t realize is that their connection goes back much further—to the winter of 2013, when they were both on a ski team in their home state of Vermont. They first noticed each other then, but it would take another eight years before they would finally take on life hand in hand.

Fast forward to 2021—Max and Keeley were reintroduced at a gathering with mutual friends in Colorado. Max was immediately drawn to Keeley and spent the next two months persistently asking her out (and getting turned down). The turning point? Max’s dog, Colt. Eventually, Keeley agreed to a ski date—Colt included—at Eldora Mountain Resort in Nederland, Colorado. That date changed everything, and the rest, as they say, is history.

A year later, Keeley moved in with Max while tackling nursing school in Denver. Max quizzed her with flashcards and supported her studies, but whenever they could, they escaped to the mountains—camping, skiing, and whitewater rafting. Their love grew even stronger when Keeley accepted a job as a Labor and Delivery Nurse in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, in 2024.

After a year on the Western Slope, they made the exciting decision to return home to Burlington, Vermont, in early 2025—coming full circle to where it all began.

Today, Keeley is a Labor and Delivery Nurse at the University of Vermont Medical Center, while Max works in sustainability reporting and software implementation for a tech company in the beef cattle industry. In their free time, they can be found hiking, skiing, or spending time anywhere near the water with their two dogs, Colt and Willie.
